Arya Farahi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Statistics and Data Sciences ( SDS) at the University of Texas at Austin. He is the director of the D3 Lab which is dedicated to advancing knowledge and innovation in statistical sciences, AI, astronomy, and decision-making. Dr. Arya Farahi is a co-PI and working group lead at the CosmicAI Institute, an NSF-Simons AI Institute based at the University of Texas at Austin. His research focuses on understanding the unexpected and not-well understood consequences of AI models, including algorithmic bias and uncertainty quantification, and developing cutting-edge methodologies and tools to mitigate these challenges.
Prior to joining the University of Texas, he was a Data Science Fellow at the Michigan Institute for Data Science (MIDAS) and McWilliams Fellow at Carnegie Mellon University. He earned his Bachelor's of Science in Physics and Mechanical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology, and completed his Ph.D. in Physics and Scientific Computing at the University of Michigan.
Ritwik is a PhD student in Statistics at Department of Statistics and Data Science. He is primarily interested in developing statistical and machine learning methods that can help tackle problems in science and society. Beyond statistics, he loves to unwind by watching movies, playing a competitive game of tennis, and kayaking.
Nevena is a PhD student in Statistics in the Department of Statistics and Data Science. Her research interests focus on solving real-world problems, in areas such as finance, using advanced machine and statistical learning as well as Bayesian modeling methods.
Outside of research, Nevena enjoys staying active through sports like volleyball, tennis, swimming, running, and working out at the gym. She also has a passion for cooking and baking.
